Ambassador Ali Ahani made the remarks during a meeting with Monaco’s head of state, Prince Albert II, in Monaco on Tuesday, in which he submitted a copy of his credentials as Iran’s first accredited ambassador to Monaco.

Ahani said that contrary to the Western propaganda against Iran, the Islamic Republic is strongly opposed to nuclear weapons and is not seeking to develop them, but it will determinedly pursue its ambition to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

He also commented on bilateral relations and said that Iran is ready to cooperate with Monaco in various areas.

Prince Albert II expressed delight over Ahani’s appointment and emphasized Iran’s important status in the international arena, saying that Monaco is keen to strengthen ties with Iran.
