TEHRAN – Two muggers who had recently robbed and assaulted a man with machete were hanged publicly in Tehran in the early hours of Sunday.
The two had been convicted of moharebeh (enmity against God) and being a “corrupt person on the earth”.
Two other accomplices in the attack were each sentenced to 10 years in prison and 74 lashes.
In addition, they must live in a remote province for five years after serving their sentences.
A video of the assault was posted on YouTube in early December and was later shown on state TV.
