Indictments issued for 40 forex, gold markets manipulators

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_am2(86).jpgTEHRAN – Indictments have been issued for 40 suspects who had been arrested on charges of manipulating the country’s foreign exchange and gold markets, Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejeii announced during his regular press briefing on Monday.  
 
He also said that about 20 other suspects are being held in custody. 
 
Officials had previously said that the arrested individuals had been exacerbating the situation in the country’s foreign exchange and gold markets through carrying out illegal activities.
 
In recent months, Iran’s rial has steeply fallen against hard currencies in open-market trade, and the price of gold coins has sharply risen in the country’s markets.
