Larijani made the remarks in a speech to the eighth General Assembly Meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union, which opened in Khartoum on Monday and closes on Tuesday.

“Violence and massacre in any place by those who claim they embrace Islam is nothing but political conspiracy and subservience to the United States and the global Zionism,” Larijani said.

“The further expansion of illogical extremist groups who show terrorist behavior in the Muslim (world) has increased the internal problems of Muslim countries and have also tarnished the image of Muslims, and have inflicted loss of lives and financial losses on Muslim countries,” he stated.

“Under the circumstances where the Islamic Awakening have created new potential in our societies against the Western tyrannical powers, certain ill-wishers are providing the enemy with ammunition with their ignorance and are sowing discord among united Muslims through raising ethnic and religious issues,” he said.

Larijani added, “Muslim countries can utilize their economic, political, and cultural potential through cooperation with each other and revive the lost status of the Islamic civilization. Naturally, the strengthening of the democratic foundations of countries will help them stand firm.”
