IRGC begins naval war game in Persian Gulf

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_am3(37).jpgTEHRAN – Naval forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on Wednesday began a three-day naval exercise, entitled Fath 91(Victory 91), in the third naval zone of the force in the Persian Gulf. 
 
IRGC forces are carrying out defensive and offensive operations designed according to the defense doctrine of the IRGC Naval Force which is based on an asymmetrical warfare strategy. Naval units and vessels are also practicing the tactics of sea battles. 
 
The commander of the IRGC’s third naval zone, Rear Admiral Bakhtiarvand, said on Wednesday that on the first day of the exercise, the forces had been divided into two groups to act as mock enemy and friendly forces. 
 
He also said that the exercise was being held to practice protecting the security of shipping lanes, adding that commandos and air defense units would conduct special operations during the maneuvers.
