SNSC Secretary Saeed Jalili and Assad discussed the Syrian crisis and ways to resolve it during their meeting.

Jalili also expressed hope that Syrian opposition groups can be convinced to hold a comprehensive national dialogue.

In addition, Assad and Jalili condemned the airstrike Israel conducted on a research center in Jamraya near Damascus on Wednesday, in which two people were killed and five others injured.

Assad said that the attack showed the destructive role the Zionist regime is playing, in cooperation with its foreign allies, to destabilize Syria in order to weaken the country and compel it to revise its positions.

He also stated, “With the support of the people and the army and through sticking to resistance, Syria will be able to confront the enemies’ challenges and plots.”

Jalili said Iran supports the Syrian nation and will make efforts to foil the plots to destabilize the region.

Jalili also held meetings with Syrian Minister of National Reconciliation Ali Haidar and Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Saturday.
