TEHRAN – Iran on Friday condemned Israeli security forces’ recent attack against Palestinian worshippers, calling on the relevant regional and international organizations to take serious measures to prevent the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression and sacrilege.
“Definitely, the weak response of the international community to these acts of aggression, such as insulting worshippers and the Holy Quran at Al-Aqsa Mosque, has further emboldened the Zionists,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.
According to Reuters, clashes broke out between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank and at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday as tensions rose just weeks before a visit by U.S. President Barack Obama.
Trouble broke out after the funeral in the West Bank of Palestinian who died of wounds on Thursday after being shot by Israeli soldiers during a confrontation two weeks ago.
Israeli police used tear gas and fired stun grenades to disperse Palestinian protesters.
Over a dozen worshippers were injured in the clashes.
According to Press TV, on Sunday, Israeli forces stormed a session of Quran recitation at al-Aqsa Mosque and an Israeli soldier insulted the holy book and trampled on it.
In a Monday statement, the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, called on all Muslim nations to take a tough stance against the blasphemous move, Press TV reported.
