TEHRAN – A senior Iranian military commander has emphasized that regional countries should ensure security in the sensitive Persian Gulf region without reliance on outside powers.
Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Naval Force, made the remarks on Tuesday in a meeting with Iraqi Admiral Ali Hassan Ali in Baghdad.
Commenting on the Islamic Republic’s power to ensure security in the region, Fadavi expressed dismay over the presence of foreign troops in the strategic Persian Gulf region which accounts for a third of the world’s oil supply.
