| PGCC highlights friendly relations with Iran |

The statement was issued at the end of the second consultative meeting of the council, which was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Bahrain. The meeting was chaired by the Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, “The council congratulated the new Iranian president-elect, Dr. Hassan Rohani, stressing the importance of maintaining peaceful relations between the (P)GCC and the Islamic Republic of Iran to promote security, stability, and prosperity of the region, wishing the new president every success and further progress and prosperity for the Iranian people.”
The council also discussed the latest events in the Syrian crisis, and expressed grave concern over the continued deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation and the continuous bloodshed, displacement, and destruction across Syria.
The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait are members of the PGCC.
