Iran’s ambassador to the UN nuclear agency, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, made the remarks during an international conference on nuclear security in Vienna, which opened on Monday and closes on Friday.

“Cyber attacks against nuclear facilities and programs, which threaten the people’s health and safety and the environment, are another security concern. In this relation, we urge the agency to increase its efforts to raise awareness about the growing threat of cyber attacks and their potential repercussions on the nuclear security and improve international cooperation to deal with such attacks,” the Iranian diplomat said.

In addition, he said, “Industrial sabotage in nuclear facilities is also a dangerous threat to the nuclear security. The protection of nuclear facilities and nuclear materials, which are being used or have been used, requires a more active role by the agency in this regard through formulating guidelines and offering advice on appropriate preventive measures.”
