The bombing,  which injured at least 53 people, occurred in the stronghold of the Lebanese Islamic resistance movement Hezbollah, and the main suspects are the allies of the foreign-sponsored militants fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that are operating in Lebanon.

It seems that the target of the blast was to put rival Lebanese groups, which have taken different positions in the Syrian conflict, against each other.

The powerful blast was the worst explosion to hit the area in years.

During the phone conversation, Salehi said that the attack showed the desperation of the enemies of Lebanon, led by the Zionist regime, adding that it was meant to sow sectarian strife among Muslim in the country.

He also emphasized that Iran would continue to support Lebanon.

Mansour, for his part, said that such attacks would only strengthen the resolve of the Lebanese people to campaign against the Zionist regime.

He also hailed Iran’s efforts to promote unity in Lebanon.

Also, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi condemned the attack on Tuesday, saying, “Such terrorist acts will not be able to compel the resistance movement and the dear Lebanese people to abandon their sublime goal, which is to campaign against the occupying (Zionist) regime.”
