There is speculation that Motahari, a leading principlist MP, may be named as culture and Islamic guidance minister, and Pezeshkian, a reformist MP, as health minister in Rohani’s government.

Bahmanzadeh said a takeover of ministerial posts by Motahari and Pezeskhian, who symbolize “moderation and insightfulness” in parliament and have a determining role in realizing the rights of the public and the educated class, would be an “improper act”.

Bahmanzadeh told the Mehr News Agency in an interview published on Wednesday that there are many moderate and capable figures in both reformist and principlist camps who can assume ministerial posts.

Denying parliament of these two leading MPs cannot be ignored, he added.

Pezeshkian, an MP representing the city of Tabriz, served as health minister in Mohammad Khatami’s administration.
