Iran frees UAE fishing boats after two months: report

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_am3(44).jpgTEHRAN – Three UAE fishing boats seized by Iranian authorities and kept on the island of Kish for nearly two months were returned safely on July 17, an official at UAE Coast Guard told Gulf News.
 
The fishing boats were seized on May 12 by Iran’s coast guard boats for fishing in the territorial waters of Iran.
 
Three Emirati captains and 21 Asian sailors are back safely after being held in custody by Iran for two months.
 
The boats belong to three Emirati owners, one from Umm Al Quwain and two from Ajman.
 
The first boat from Umm Al Quwain had on board an Emirati captain and five Asian sailors. The second boat, from Ajman, had on board an Emirati captain and five Asian sailors while the third boat, also from Ajman, was carrying an Emirati Captain and 11 Asian sailors.
 
The owners of the boats reported the incident to the concerned authorities who helped them in the release of their seized boats.
