‘Iran suffering from severe drought’

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_br3(242).jpgTEHRAN – Iran is suffering from a severe drought as its water reservoir has been depleted to 45 percent, Deputy Energy Minister for Water and Wastewater Ali Reza Daemi said on Monday.
 
The volume of rainfall has reduced three percent in the current water year compared to the average long-term volume, he added.
 
Mohammad Darvish, a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Forest and Pasture Research, has also said underground water level has dropped 2 meters in 70 plains across Iran in recent years.
