Males account for 61% of students with highest scores in 2013 university entrance exams

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_ep2(196).jpgTEHRAN – The list of the students with the highest scores in this year’s Iranian university entrance exams shows males outperformed females.  
 
The results of the entrance exams will be announced on August 1, but the names of the students with the highest scores were announced on Wednesday by the National Organization of Educational Testing. 
 
Of the 36 with the highest scores, 22 (61%) are males and 14 (39%) are females. Eleven of the students with the highest scores are from Tehran, and the rest are from other provinces. 
 
The university entrance exam, known as the konkour, is a standardized test used as one of the means to gain admission to higher education in Iran.
