‘Saudi Arabian minister of state to attend Rohani’s inauguration’

Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to dispatch a minister of state to the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President-elect Hassan Rohani.

Musaid bin Muhammad al-Ayban will travel to Tehran on Saturday at the head of a delegation to partake in the event, Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported.

Director of the Protocol Office of Iran’s Majlis Mohammad Yasrebi said on Wednesday that 11 presidents, two prime ministers and seven parliament speakers will definitely participate in Rohani’s swearing-in ceremony.

He added that former European Union Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana and former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad will also take part in the ceremony as special guests.

The president-elect’s inauguration is scheduled to be held on August 4, one day after his endorsement by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Rohani secured an outright win in Iran’s June 14 presidential election. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.

According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi, leaders and officials from across the world, except for the United States and Israel, have been invited to the event.
