Saudi Arabia barred the airplane of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir which was headed to Iran from crossing into its airspace on Sunday, forcing the plane to return to Khartoum, Bahir’s spokesman said.

During a telephone conversation with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti, Salehi hailed the efforts of the Sudanese president to attend the ceremony and expressed hope that the two presidents would hold meetings in the near future.

Also, the Sudanese official sent congratulations on the inauguration of President Rohani and asked for reciprocal meetings between Rohani and al-Bashir in Tehran and Khartoum.

Rohani took an oath of office as Iran’s new president in a ceremony in the Parliament on Sunday, which was attended by high ranking Iranian officials and foreign dignitaries from over 60 countries.
