.jpg) TEHRAN – French President Francois Hollande has sent a message of congratulation to Iran’s new President Hassan Rohani on his victory in the June 14 election.
Rohani officially took charge of his office this weekend.
French Ambassador Bruno Foucher to Iran conveyed the message during a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji in Tehran on Tuesday.
Foucher also praised Iran’s history and civilization and expressed hope that Tehran and Paris would make efforts to open new chapters in their relations.
The Iranian official, for his part, emphasized that the two countries should seize the opportunity to expand their bilateral relations and help promote peace and stability in the region.
The new Iranian president took the oath of office in parliament on Sunday, a day after he was officially endorsed by the Supreme Leader.
Representatives from over 60 countries attended Rohani’s inauguration ceremony.
