Davutoglu invites Zarif to attend trilateral meeting in Turkey

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_ep1(184).jpgTEHRAN – New Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has been invited by his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu to attend a trilateral meeting between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, which is scheduled to be held in the Turkish city of Erzurum in the near future. 
 
The invitation was extended during a telephone conversation between the two officials on Friday. 
 
Davutoglu congratulated Zarif on his confirmation as foreign minister and called for the expansion of ties between the two countries. 
 
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, emphasized the importance of “strategic” relations between Tehran and Ankara, saying that Iran was keen to help enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in regard to regional issues. 
 
The two foreign ministers also discussed a number of regional and international issues during the conversation and called for closer cooperation between regional countries to help resolve the situation in Egypt through peaceful means.
