Biannual meeting of senior officials of IOR-ARC member states kicks off in Mauritius

TEHRAN – The 3rd Bi-Annual Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Indian Ocean Rim-Association for Regional Cooperation opened in Mauritius on August 20 and closes on 21, according to a press release recently issued by the IOR-ARC.  
 
Following is the text of the press release: 
 
The 3rd Bi-Annual Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) will be hosted by India (Chair) in Mauritius at Le Canonnier Hotel, Mauritius on 20-21 August 2013.  Forty delegates from Member States namely, Australia, Bangladesh, Comoros, India, Indonesia, Seychelles, I.R. of Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Sultanate of Oman, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, UAE, and Yemen will be attending the meeting to discuss new proposals and follow-up on decisions taken at the last Council of Ministers (COM) held in Gurgaon, India in November 2012.
 
This meeting will be chaired by H E Mr. Pinak Chakravarty, Secretary (Economic Relations), Government of India.
 
Many important issues are likely to be discussed, including finalization of various projects on Maritime Security and Safety, Trade and Investment, cooperation in field of Fisheries, Student Exchanges, Capacity Building, Academic and Science and Technology Cooperation and Tourism Promotion. The recommendations of the CSO will be placed before the Council of Ministers’ which is likely to meet in Australia later this year. Australia will take the role of Chair and Indonesia Vice Chair.
 
The report of the First Economic Business Forum (EBC), which was co-hosted by the Governments of Mauritius and India, held in Mauritius on 4-5 July 2013, under the theme of “Deepening Economic Linkages for Balanced, Inclusive & Sustainable Growth” will be circulated at the CSO meeting.
