Beheshti had been charged with spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic system, insulting the values of the system, and making efforts to act against national security.

Speaking during his regular press conference, Mohseni-Ejei also announced that a number of suspects in the $2.6 billion financial fraud case will stand trial in the near future.

The case was the most massive fraud case in the history of Iran and triggered a wave of resignations and dismissals of the banking officials.

The Arya Investment Company is at the center of the controversy, and Mah-Afarid Amir-Khosravi, who is one of the main owners of the company, is the number one suspect in the case.
