In his message, Kishida underlined the history of friendly relations between Iran and Japan and called for the expansion of ties based on trust.
He also underscored Zarif’s valuable experience in the international arena and expressed hope that Iran would improve its constructive relationship with the international community.
Also, Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent separate written messages and congratulated Zarif on his appointment.
Zarif was officially inaugurated on August 17 as Iran’s new foreign minister, replacing Ali Akbar Salehi.
