“If they take such an action, the Americans will certainly suffer a loss like their intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan,” the Leader said during a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rohani and his cabinet team in Tehran on Wednesday.
“Intervention by extra-regional and foreign powers in a country will only set off a conflagration and increase the hatred of nations toward them,” he said.
“This is like a spark of fire in a gunpowder store, whose dimensions and repercussions are unpredictable,” he added.
On the Egyptian crisis, the Leader said that the Islamic Republic could not close its eyes to the killing of the people.
Iran condemns the killing of the Egyptian people and disapproves of those who have been behind the killing, he said.
He went on to say that efforts should be made to prevent a civil war in the Arab country because it would prove disastrous for the region and the Muslim world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei called on administration officials to give priority to facilitating the country’s scientific progress and resolving the economic issues facing the country.
