| Iran’s Assembly of Experts holds 14th meeting |

Chairman of the Assembly Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani opened the two-day meeting and delivered a speech.
President Hassan Rohani, Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Guardian Council chief Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, and other members of the assembly were among the attendees.
The commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Major General Qasem Suleimani, was scheduled to give a speech at the first day of the meeting.
According to reports, his speech was expected to center around the current situation in the Muslim world, particularly the political crises in Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon.
President Rohani is scheduled to deliver a speech to the assembly on Wednesday.
The assembly holds meetings two times a year to discuss major national issues and every two years appoints a new chairman.
The Assembly of Experts is a body of Islamic jurisprudence scholars who are directly elected in a nationwide poll for eight-year terms.
The members of the assembly are constitutionally tasked with appointing and supervising the Supreme Leader.
