|Foreign Minister Zarif appoints new deputies||
TEHRAN - In a move showing little signs of significant change at the top of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has reshuffled his team of deputies.
In decrees issued on Wednesday, Ebrahim Rahimpour replaced Seyyed Abbas Araqchi as new deputy for Asia and Pacific affairs. Araqchi will serve as deputy for international affairs. Majid Takhteh-Ravanchi also assumed the post of deputy foreign minister for European and American affairs.
Zarif has also reappointed Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as his deputy for Arab African affairs and Hassan Qashqavi as deputy for consular, parliamentary and expatriates.
Morteza Sarmadi, an experienced diplomat, will serve as Zarif’s top aide at the ministry.
