During the ceremony, which was attended by a number of high-profile political and cultural figures in Tehran, Guardian Council chief Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati praised Kadkhodaei as one of the most trusted legal experts whose honest services were ignored by MPs in their no vote to him for another term in the council.

“Some people were looking for an opportunity to take revenge from Kadkhodaei,” Jannati said while addressing the ceremony held under the name of “The man of trust and honesty”.

Kadkhodaei, who served for two consecutive terms in the Guardian Council from 2001 to 2012, failed to gain the vote of Majlis (Iran’s parliament) for another 6-year period.

He was one of the six law experts in the council vetting the registered candidates in Iran’s recent presidential election in Iran.
