“Our logical objective is the peaceful use of all aspects of nuclear energy, including enriching [uranium], and their logical objective is to make sure that Iran does not use the [nuclear] program for military purposes,” Zarif said in an interview with the website Khabaronline.ir posted on Monday.

There are certain groups in certain Western countries that are making efforts to depict Iran as a threat, Zarif stated. However, this false image of Iran is neither to the benefit of the countries that are involved in talks with Iran over its nuclear program nor to the benefit of Iran, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Zarif said that today, no country in the world can voluntarily opt for isolation because isolation means that you are outside of the international scene and your interests will suffer.

He also noted that Iran is keen to have relations with the West based on mutual respect, saying, “If we feel that the United States is ready to have relations based on mutual respect and reciprocal interests on an equal footing, we would be prepared to have dialogue with the U.S.”
