According to the Bahrain News Agency, the statement of the PGCC ministerial meeting in Jeddah on Tuesday expressed concern over Iran’s nuclear program and supported the United Arab Emirates’ claim of sovereignty over the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs in the Persian Gulf.
The statement also said that Iran should respond positively to the diplomatic efforts aimed at solving the nuclear issue peacefully and ensuring implementation of the UN Security Council’s resolutions in this respect.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Marzieh Afkham said that Tehran’ nuclear activities are completely transparent and within the framework of the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
She also said that the Islamic Republic is insistent on exercising its sovereignty over the three Iranian islands.
In addition, Afkham said that Iran adheres to the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect, and non-intervention, adding that Tehran welcomes friendly talks with its neighbors in the Persian Gulf region.
