|‘Rohani not opposed to participation of Tehran mayor in cabinet sessions’||
TEHRAN – The spokesman for the Tehran City Council (TCC) says President Hassan Rohani has no opposition to the participation of the mayor of Tehran in cabinet sessions.
“As far as I know Mr. Rohani’s view about the presence of Qalibaf in cabinet sessions is positive,” Reza Taqipour told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday when asked whether the council will seek a participation of the mayor in cabinet meetings in its upcoming meeting with the president.
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the mayor of Tehran, was a competitor to Rohani in the June presidential election. He finished second in the polls.
Taqipour said no date has still been set for the meeting with the president and the councilors are waiting for a decision by the council chief in this regard.
The council spokesman said an exchange of views with the government is certainly “very important” in resolving the problems facing the metropolis of Tehran and “we hope that the problems of Tehran would be resolved through empathy.”
On main issues that would be raised during the meeting with the president, the spokesman said, “In my view the issue of government’s support for a development of city infrastructures in the city of Tehran is an important point because we have inherited a Tehran” which is grappling with some problems especially in the infrastructure sectors.
Taqipour said the funding of metro projects, which its bill has already been ratified by the parliament, and other issues such as air pollution will be the main topics of the meeting with the president.
