|Rouhani wants good relationship with parliament||
TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani says his administration is seeking consultation and interaction with the parliament in order to promote the country’s goals and ideals.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during the first meeting between the two branches of the government since Rouhani took office in August.
“Frequent contacts between the two branches will help us adopt a unanimous viewpoint on realities of the country and the world and take steps to solve the people’s problems,” Rouhani stated.
He also briefed the lawmakers on various issues, including the administration’s economic plans to improve people’s livelihood and the foreign policy. He also provided a report about his trip to New York for the UN General Assembly meeting and his attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan last month.
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani hailed the position Rouhani adopted at the UN and said the president defended Iran’s interests very effectively.
‘Congress seeking friendship group with Iranian parliament’
After the telephone conversation between U.S. President Barack Obama and Rouhani which took place on the last day of his trip, the U.S. Congress has been considering forming a friendship group with Iran, MP Abed Fattah quoted Rouhani as saying.
Fattah also said the president said it would be a good idea if lawmakers in Iran also study the establishment of a friendship group with the Congress.
