|Leader backs administration’s diplomatic efforts||
TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that he approves of the administration’s diplomatic efforts made during President Hassan Rouhani’s recent visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly meeting.
“We support the administration’s diplomatic movement and attach high importance to diplomatic efforts, and we support what occurred during the recent visit,” Ayatollah Khamenei said during the graduation ceremony of a number of cadets of the Iranian Armed Forces’ military academies in Tehran on Saturday.
“But in our view, certain things that happened during the visit to New York were not proper because we believe that the U.S. government is untrustworthy, self-important, and illogical and breaks its promises” the Leader stated.
He also said that the Islamic system regards the United States with suspicion and mistrust, adding, “The U.S. government in fact moves in the direction of the Zionists’ interests and blackmails all the world and is blackmailed by the Zionist regime.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said that those who utter verbal threats against Iran must be aware of the fact that any malevolent act against the Iranian nation would be met with a firm response.
