|Atmosphere of nuclear talks has improved under Rouhani: AEOI director||
TEHRAN – The atmosphere of the nuclear talks between Iran and the six major powers has been improving since Hassan Rouhani took office as president of Iran in August, and this change has prompted the other side to adopt an interactive approach toward Iran, according to the director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
AEOI Director Ali Akbar Salehi made the remarks during an interview with the Fars News Agency published on Friday.
Representatives of Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) held talks over Tehran’s nuclear program in Geneva on Tuesday and Wednesday, which were the first negotiations since Rouhani took office.
Salehi also stated that he has held a number of meetings with Russian officials to study aspects of a protocol, according to which Russia would start building another nuclear power plant at the Bushehr site, if it is approved.
The construction of a nuclear power plant takes five to six years to complete, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi said that the AEOI is carefully guarding its nuclear facilities to prevent any act of sabotage.
