|Zarif won’t attend session of parliamentary committee due to back pain||
TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will not be meeting the members of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Tuesday due to severe back pain.
The MPs sitting on the parliamentary committee had asked the foreign minister to brief them on the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the six major powers that were held in Geneva on October 15 and 16, and he had originally been scheduled to attend a session of the committee on Tuesday for that purpose.
However, Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs Abbas Araqchi, who led the Iranian delegation in the nuclear negotiations with the six major powers, and Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi, who also participated in the Geneva meetings, briefed the committee on the talks on Sunday.
Iran and the six major powers (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, known as the 5+1 group) held substantive talks over Tehran’s nuclear program in Geneva on October 15 and 16.
