|Rouhani nominates candidates for three ministerial posts||
TEHRAN – The Iranian parliament on Sunday received a letter by President Hassan Rouhani nominating candidates for the three remaining seats on his cabinet.
According to the letter which was read out during an open session of the Majlis, the president named Reza Faraji-Dana, Ali Asghar Fani, and Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri respectively as science, research, and technology minister, education minister, and sports and youth minister.
The parliament had previously approved 15 out of 18 individuals nominated for ministerial posts by President Rouhani.
The three rejected choices were Mohammad Ali Najafi as education minister, Massoud Soltanifar as sports minister, and Jafar Mili-Monfared as science minister.
The parliament, which is dominated by conservatives, will hold confirmation votes on the proposed ministers on October 27, according to MP Ali Reza Monadi, member of the Majlis Presiding Board.
Fani and Salehi-Amiri are current caretaker ministers of education and sports.
Faraji-Dana, faculty member of the University of Tehran, had previously been named as science minister by former president Mohammad Khatami, but failed to win the parliament’s vote of approval.
