In his letter, Khazaee also urged the international community, including the neighboring countries, to fully cooperate to bring the terrorist group to justice.
Following is the text of the letter:
Upon instructions from my government, I would like to bring to your attention the deadly terrorist attack, which took place on October 25, 2013 in Iran. This terrorist act was organized and carried out by a terrorist group in the border area of the southeastern city of Saaravan in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan, killing 14 and injuring 6 border guards while on duty.
The terrorist group, calling itself “Jaish ul-Adl” has claimed responsibility for this abhorrent terrorist act. There are indications that the group is affiliated with al-Qaeada and penetrates across the eastern Iranian border to commit terrorist acts.
The Islamic Republic of Iran would like to recall the responsibility of the Security Council and its members in reacting to this heinous terrorist act. Undoubtedly, an appropriate reaction by the Council, similar to those taken following the two other similar terrorist incidents on February 15, 2007 and October 20, 2009, would convey a strong message to this terrorist group and its supporters that terrorism could not be tolerated wherever and by whomever and in whatever form is committed, and would be a comfort to the bereaved families of those who perished in this cruel terrorist attack.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to take all necessary measures to bring this terrorist group to justice. We expect the international community, including the neighboring countries, to fully cooperate to this end.
