|Gul invites Rouhani to visit Turkey||
TEHRAN – Turkish President Abdullah Gul has invited Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to visit Turkey, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
The invitation was made as Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Gul in Istanbul on Friday.
Zarif had visited Turkey to attend a conference on nuclear disarmament and international security.
Zarif praised Turkey’s position aired in the forum entitled “The Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs, “Dialogue, Disarmament, and Regional and Global Security”. The conference started from November 1 and will last until November 5.
The chief Iranian diplomat also called relations with Turkey deep-rooted and friendly and said it is necessary to seriously pursue common goals.
Pointing to security problems in the region, the top diplomat said it is needed that regional countries use their potential to help resolve crises.
Zarif calls Iran, Turkey influential regional powers
Iran and Turkey as two great influential powers in the region can encourage conflicting sides to negotiate and in this way take step toward establishing peace and security in the region, Zarif told IRNA upon his arrival in Istanbul.
Zarif also held talks with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.
The two chief diplomats held discussions over regional and international issues.
The Iranian foreign was also going to visit the Turkish capital Ankara to held talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Zarif and Davutoglu also participated in a Friday prayer ceremony in Istanbul.
The Iranian foreign minister’s attendance at the prayers was welcomed by the Turkish public.
