|Aref urges support for government through constructive criticism||
TEHRAN – Mohammad Reza Aref says the new government is making efforts to put the country’s economic situation on the right track and this entails supporting the government to achieve its goals through “fair criticism”.
“Alongside fair criticism we should support the government in realizing its goals,” Aref, a member of the Expediency Council, told a number of students at Shiraz University.
He also said, “Disappointment is the greatest plague that can deal a blow to student activities.”
Criticism is part of the duty of students associations “but we should acknowledge that any government faces problems and hurdles in the beginning of its work,” he noted.
The former vice president said at a time that certain reformist figures were disappointed about making a change to the country’s political climate the youth heartened reformist leaders and “created a political epic which led to a change in the country’s atmosphere.”
He also pointed to the parliamentary election in 2016, saying, “Reformists should seriously have an active presence in Majlis election.”
Aref went on to say that the view of reformism emerged victorious in the June presidential election and this view should be promoted in the country.
Aref says may establish political party
He also said if it becomes necessary he will establish a political party.
“If we reach this conclusion that the formation of party is essential we will form party through a democratic way.”
Aref was a candidate in the June presidential election. However, a few days before the election he withdrew his candidacy.
