|Ahmadinejad calls for debate with Rouhani||
TEHRAN – Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sent a letter to current President Hassan Rouhani, asking to hold a debate with him to defend the previous administration’s record.
Ahmadinejad was president for two 4-year terms, from 2005 to 2013.
His letter came after Rouhani presented a televised report about his 100-day in office last week in which he said his administration has inherited many problems including high inflation rate from the Ahmadinejad administration.
In his letter, Ahmadinejad said Rouhani’s report about the previous government was “unjust” and “baseless,” and called for holding a friendly debate with him to clarify the ambiguities to the people.
President’s senior advisor, Akbar Torkan, welcomed the idea on Monday provided that during the debate Ahmadinejad would only speak the truth.
