|UAE president calls for increased cooperation with Iran||
TEHRAN – UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan has said that the Persian Gulf Arab state is ready to increase cooperation with Iran in all areas.
Sheikh Khalifa made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday.
He also highlighted the need for further exchange of visits between the two countries’ officials in order to help pave the way for the expansion of bilateral relations.
In addition, he said that he had called on UAE officials to make every effort to help strengthen ties with Iran.
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister said that the Islamic Republic attached high importance to its relationship with Abu Dhabi and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would be increased under the presidency of Hassan Rouhani.
In addition, Zarif said that he was hopeful that political solutions to regional issues would be found through cooperation between Tehran and Abu Dhabi.
He also extended an invitation by President Rouhani to the UAE president to visit Iran.
In a separate meeting with Zarif on the same day, UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that considering the capabilities, potential, and comparative advantages of Iran and the UAE, it was possible that the two countries would expand their joint economic activities.
The Iranian official also held a meeting with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
