|Situation ripe for final nuclear deal: Leader’s advisor||
TEHRAN – Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Supreme Leader, has said that the situation is ripe for a final agreement between Iran and world powers.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy is to continue the negotiations and adhere to what has been stated in the Geneva agreement, and conditions are ready for a final deal,” said Velayati, who is also the director of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council.
“The Americans have no option but to adhere to their commitments under the Geneva agreement because given their failed experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Syria, they definitely do not want the situation in the region regarding Iran to go to a direction that is not in their interests.”
Iran and world powers clinched an interim deal in Geneva on November 24, according to which Iran agreed to offer a number of concessions in exchange for limited relief from the sanctions imposed on the country.
Over the next six months the parties are to attempt to negotiate a comprehensive solution to Iran’s nuclear issue.
