|Iran unveils new radar system||
TEHRAN – A new domestically manufactured radar system became operational on Tuesday during a ceremony attended by the commander of Iran’s Khatam-ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base.
Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili said the “powerful” and “indigenous” radar system, named the Arash, was an efficient long-range radar system, which would help improve the capabilities of the country’s integrated air defense network.
Using the new radar system, the country will be able to counter electronic warfare measures more effectively, he said.
He added that it would be very easy to carry out maintenance work on the radar system.
Iran also unveiled a domestically manufactured phased array radar system, named the Asr (Era), in late November.
The Asr radar system has a range of 200 kilometers and is able to simultaneously detect and track up to 100 targets.
The Iranian Navy had previously announced that the Asr radar system would be installed on a number of the country’s naval warships.
