|Iran pulling rug out from under Israel: Zarif||
TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that by showing more transparency in its nuclear drive, Iran is in fact “pulling the rug out from under the feet of” Israel, which has been claiming for many years that Iran is seeking to produce nuclear weapons.
“…we are pulling the rug out from under the feet of the Zionist regime, and the years-old game of the Zionist regime is being disrupted,” Zarif told a meeting of scholars at the University of Tehran on Wednesday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was incensed by the nuclear deal struck by Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany), calling it a “historic mistake”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zarif said the United States does not want Iran to have nuclear program but it cannot stop it.
He also told the critics of the nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 group that criticism is necessary but unity trumps factional interests.
“We are in need of criticism, but we need unity more, and we should know that we are sitting in one ship, and this ship is not factional but national, and if a hole is created in it, we all will be put in a similar situation.”
