|Ebrahim Rahimpour appointed Iran’s envoy for Caspian Sea affairs||
TEHRAN – On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif appointed his deputy for Asia and Pacific affairs, Ebrahim Rahimpour, as the country’s special envoy for Caspian Sea affairs.
He replaces Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh.
Rahimpour will be in charge of holding negotiations with representatives of other Caspian Sea littoral states, namely Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
These countries are in talks to set up the principles of activities in the sea, determine the rights and duties, and regulate activities in various areas.
They are also striving to formulate the Caspian Sea legal regime.
