|Government will not accept discrimination in citizenship rights: Rouhani||
AHVAZ– In his second day of visit to Khuzestan Province, President Hassan Rouhani said his government will not accept discrimination against tribes and ethnic groups.
“We will not accept discrimination in citizenship rights toward tribes and ethnic groups,” Rouhani told a gathering of tribal chiefs in Khuzestan on Wednesday.
He said the government views tribes as a “great opportunity” to involve them in the economic development of the country.
The president said it is hard for him to hear that local workforce is not involved in economic projects in the province.
“This is not only the demand of the tribes and people of Khuzestan but a national and government demand,” the president noted.
He added that the Islamic Revolution provided an opportunity for the enrichment of tribal and cultural diversity in Iran.
Ali Younesi, the special advisor to president on ethnic groups and religious minorities, said minority groups voted overwhelmingly for Rouhani in the June presidential election.
