Rear Admiral Siavash Jarreh also said that the warships will then enter South Atlantic Ocean waters.

The Navy’s 29th fleet of warships, comprised of the Khark logistic helicopter carrier and the Sabalan destroyer, set sail on Tuesday from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas for the Atlantic Ocean on a three-month voyage.

It is the Navy’s first-ever mission to the Atlantic Ocean.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the commander of the Iranian Navy, had previously said that the warships were tasked with maintaining the security of Iranian vessels in international waters.
