“We do not welcome wars and conflicts but we will give warmongers a firm response,” Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said on Wednesday.
“It is surprising that the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights, democracy, and diplomacy are calling for medieval measures and assume that they can secure their interests through using force, cruelty, and invasion,” he added.
His remarks came in response to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who said that the military option is still on the table if Iran does not adhere to an interim nuclear deal reached between the Islamic Republic and the major powers in Geneva on November 24, 2013.
The remarks by Kerry came just four days after the Geneva nuclear deal went into force, and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency closely watched and verified the implementation of the deal on the part of Iran.
