|Iran prepared for ‘decisive war’ with U.S., Israel: general||
TEHRAN – The chief of the General Staff of Iran’s armed forces has said that the Islamic Republic is prepared for the “decisive war” with the United States and Israel.
Major General Hassan Firouzabadi made the remarks in an interview with the Fars News Agency on Wednesday in response to U.S. officials who have recently said that the military option is still on the table if Iran does not adhere to an interim nuclear deal reached between the Islamic Republic and the major powers in Geneva on November 24, 2013.
“We are prepared for the decisive war with the United States and the Zionist regime,” the general said, adding, “We have planned for this battle for years, and we have conducted various military exercises, and our forces are prepared.”
“Over the past decade, they have examined the military option and even massed their troops, but they reached the conclusion that they were not able to (take military action against Iran),” he said.
In addition, the general said that the United States’ rhetoric of a military option against Iran is only “a political bluff.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that Iran does not feel any hostility toward any country in the region, but Iranian armed forces would target the U.S. military bases in any place from which an attack against the country is launched.
