|Zarif says Iran prioritizes ties with Saudi Arabia||
TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the Iranian government prioritizes expansion of relations with neighboring and Muslim countries particularly Saudi Arabia, putting emphasis on the significant role of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the region and the world.
Zarif made the remarks on Sunday in a meeting with the new Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Iran, Abdur-Rahman bin Gharman al-Shahri.
Zarif said that the expansion of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia will meet the interests of both countries, the region, and the Islamic world.
“We should move forward with a realistic view,” Zarif said as he received a copy of the Saudi ambassador’s credentials.
Foreign Minister Zarif expressed hope that the Saudi ambassador would open a new page in relations between the two countries in his new mission to Tehran.
The new ambassador of Cyprus also met with Zarif in Tehran on Sunday and presented a copy of his credentials to him. The diplomat pointed to the good relationship between Tehran and Nicosia and said the two countries share common views on certain regional and international issues.
The new Burundian ambassador to Iran, Omar Ntezimbere, also presented a copy of his credentials to Zarif on Sunday.
The Iranian foreign minister appreciated the cooperation between Iran and Burundi in international organizations.
