Egyptian and Iranian consular officials hold talks

TEHRAN – The Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Ali Al Ashiri, met with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Ghashghavi in Tehran on Monday.
 
The Egyptian diplomat had visited Iran to participate in the meeting of the D8 member states’ consular officials in Tehran.
 
Ghashghavi pointed to the important status of Egypt in the region and appreciated the active presence of the Egyptian delegation in the D8 meeting.
 
The Egyptian diplomat said his country is seeking to conclude a consular agreement with Iran in efforts to ease the issuance of visa to businessmen.
 
D-8 or Developing Eight is a group of developing countries with large Muslim populations that have formed an economic development alliance. It consists of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
