Parliamentary speakers from OIC states meet Ali Larijani

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_na1(5).jpgTEHRAN – Parliamentary speakers from Islamic states meet separately with Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) meeting in Tehran.
In a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq Al-Ghanim on Tuesday, Larijani called for unity among Muslim nations.
Larijani pointed to the good relations between Iran and Kuwait and said that maintenance of good and brotherly relations with the neighboring countries is a “strategic policy” of Iran.
The Kuwaiti parliament speaker, for his part, said that Iran is an important and powerful country in the region and the Islamic world and said Kuwait is honored to continue its relations with Iran.
Al-Ghanim stated that Iran’s nuclear program is totally peaceful and conforms to the international regulations and expressed hope that the ongoing talks between Iran and the major powers would lead to favorable results.
In his meeting with Turkish Parliament speaker Cemil Cicek on Wednesday, Larijani said Iran considers the attendance of Turkish delegation in the meeting as a sign of deep friendship between the two neighbors.
Turkey is an influential country in the region and Iran-Turkey cooperation is key to resolving the issues facing the Islamic world, Larijani said.
He added that the Iranian Parliament supports the development of relations between the two countries.
The Turkish parliament speaker said Iran’s presidency of the PUIC is very important in consolidating unity among Muslims.
Cicek stated that expansion of relations with Iran is a foreign policy priority of Turkey.
Larijani also met with Pakistani Senate chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and called on the Islamabad government to maintain security along its borders with Iran.
He also said that the Iranian Parliament, Pakistan National Assembly and Senate can provide the grounds to expand the political, cultural and economic relations between the two countries.
The Iranian Majlis speaker also met with Palestinian National Council chairman Salim Zanoun in Tehran on Tuesday.
Larijani referred to the issue of Palestine as one of the most important issues of the Islamic world.
He expressed hope that the PUIC meeting would help resolve the problems of the oppressed Palestinian people. 
The senior lawmaker said Iran’s “comprehensive approach” toward the Palestinian issue is one of the main causes of the Islamic Revolution.
Salim Zanoun expressed hope that the PUIC meeting would be produce positive results in efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue.
The Iranian Majlis speaker also held separate talks with parliamentary speakers of some other Islamic countries including Azerbaijan, Uganda, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Palestine, Bangladesh, Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Niger, Syria, Somalia, Malaysia, Algeria and Morocco on the sidelines of the PUIC meeting in Tehran.
